Elder Garth "G-Funk"Wright Returns HOME!

So after leaving Africa, Tuesday night at 11:30pm, went from Africa, to London, to Denver, and finally landed in Omaha, NE at 9:50pm Wednesday night. All of the siblings came to the airport to wait for him, along with dad of course and Jonathan. Mike would have gone, but was kind enough to stay back at my dad's with the kids, since it would have been way too late for them. We wanted to get there earlier enough just in case his plane was way early. We didn't want him to get off the plane and have no one there to meet him. During the day, all of the kids help decorate posters for Uncle Garth's return. It was fun for them and helped keep them entertained for about an hour. Then later after Aunt Melia got home from work, Reighlyn helped her "decorate" the poster even more with feathers, glitter, etc. We also made him a flower bouquet with pipe cleaners. They turned out way cute...wish I would have gotten a picture of them. Anyways, after waiting about a half hour, Garth's plane finally landed, but no worries, while we all waiting anxiously to see where he was, he decided he needed to get one more lesson in before getting off the plane. I am pretty sure he was the last one walking up the ramp where we were all waiting. On the way up the ramp he was talking to a young woman about praying about the Book of Mormon and bearing his testimony that it was true and all she needed to do was pray about it. I guess when all you do for 2 years is preach the gospel it just comes as second nature. After a round of hugs from everyone and a group photo it was off to getting his luggage and then drive home. I was very glad my dad only lives about 10 minutes away from the air port, as I am sure Garth was too. After getting home, Garth unpacked his bags, well kind of, more just showing us a lot of the things he brought home from Africa and telling us fun stories from his mission. I think we all finally got to bed around midnight or so. I thought for sure Garth would sleep all morning, but he was wake when my kids decided to wake up at the lovely hour of 5:45am. I think one of his hardest adjustments was the weather...it was in the single digits the whole first week he was home...a little different from 100 degree weather. No worries we went and got him some lovely man slippers that helped keep him warm, along with fleece sheets on his bed. We are so glad Garth made it home and can't wait to spend more time with him!
